Tide Continues Powerful Racing Legend in 2017 Season
Tide will return to the track for the first time in 2017 with Joe Gibbs Racing for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) Camping World 500 at Phoenix International Raceway) on Sunday, March 19. Reigniting a legacy that spanned across three decades, this is the first of a three-race primary sponsorship deal announced in February that will power Matt Kenseth’s “Tide PODS Ride” this season.
One of the most iconic brands in the history of NASCAR made its return to the sport in 2016 during the Throwback Race Weekend at Darlington Raceway with Kenseth to celebrate Tide’s 70th anniversary. Not only did America’s favorite detergent pay homage to its racing heritage, fans were also introduced to a new and more powerful legend with Tide PODS showcasing the strength and evolution within the sport.
Fans spanning across multiple generations welcomed the return of the Tide PODS car to NASCAR with an outpour of positive sentiment, thrilled to see such a beloved car back on the track. Thanks in major part to the overwhelming fan response, Tide decided to continue the legend and entered into a year-long partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing, which includes primary sponsorship of the No. 20 Toyota Camry in three MENCS races; Phoenix International Raceway on March 19, Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 23 and Charlotte Motor Speedway on October 7. Tide PODS will also be featured as a secondary sponsor on Kenseth’s entry for the remainder of the season.
Prior to the Tide colors hitting the one-mile short track in Avondale, Arizona – the first of a three-part digital series of videos will be released showcasing the power coupling of Matt Kenseth and the Tide PODS car.
Careful thought went into the design creation of the 2017 No. 20 Tide PODS Toyota Camry, which is sure to turn heads on the track. This year’s design pulls through cues from Tide’s unforgettable orange and yellow colors with the iconic “Tide bullseye” on the hood honoring the brand’s 20-year racing history. Moving from front to back, the car is a visual representation of how Tide has evolved through the years introducing the revolutionary and powerful Tide PODS.Back to news list
