February 25th 1999
- NASCAR has off this weekend and
will be in Las Vegas March 5th-7th
- Drivers
to Watch - Matt Kenseth
(Nascar.com)
Monday February
22nd 1999 Rockingham
- It was looking like Matt Kenseth
had the field beat during Saturdays ALLTEL 200 at Rockingham but
Jeff Burton and Mark Martin were able to catch Matt late in the
race after his car appeared to tighten up. The DEWALT Tools #17 finished
3rd after leading 108 of the 197 laps. Matt gained 10
valuable bonus points for leading the most laps and is now 2nd
in Busch series points, 10 behind Randy LaJoie.
Matt was not very comfortable
during the race, he had a new helmet that did not fit well,
forcing him to hold it with one hand for most of time, plus he was
sick!!
- Kenseth
set to meet the press
Matt Kenseth, a three-time NASCAR Busch Series Grand National
Division race winner and runner-up in the 1998 championship
battle, will be the guest on the weekly NASCAR Busch Series
teleconference by MCI WorldCom Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
ET. (NASCAR.com)
Friday February 19th 1999
- Saturday marks the anniversary
of Matt Kenseth’s and Reiser Enterprises first career victory in the Busch
series. Matt is looking to forward to repeating his win at “The Rock”
and from the practice results, he certainly could do it in tomorrows running
of the ALLTEL 200. Busch qualifying was rained out today so Matt will be
starting from the 2nd position, determined by 1998 points. The Busch cars
were able to get two practice sessions in and Matt was 5th
and 1st
fastest.

- “Its
Only Fun At The Front” Matt
describes his week at Daytona, from Country.com
Monday February
15th 1999 Daytona
- Whew!! I’m sure glad that race
is over with!! Nearly half the field in the NAPA Auto Parts 300 ended up out
of the race due to accidents or mechanical problems. Matt did an incredible
job avoiding the wrecks and brought the DeWALT Chevrolet across the line
(sideways) in 4th
place. Randy LaJoie shows that his new team is serious about
a championship title by winning the race. Earnhardt Jr. had a rough time of
it at Daytona, wrecking an IROC car and then wrecking his primary Busch car
in the final practice.
Wednesday
February 10th 1999
- Matt moves up one spot to
18th
after Derrike Cope is disqualified for shocks not meeting NASCAR’s strict
rules at Daytona. The #17 was having some motor problems today during
practice sessions, hopefully everything will be in good shape by Saturdays
race.
- Country.com
has a Journal on Matt that is a must see. (Thanks South Pacific of
Roush
Racing Fan Page)
- DeWALT
has updated their web page to show Matt
as their new driver.
Tuesday
February 9th 1999
-
Matt has qualified
19th in the DeWALT Tools #17 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for
Saturdays race at Daytona. Matt was interviewed before his
qualifying run and he said that he wasn’t going to very
fast in qualifying but the car was going to be very good in
the race. 65 cars attempted to qualify which means there
will be many going home after second round qualifying.
