Kenseth has trouble at Slinger; Ross Kenseth finishes 3rd
Matt
Kenseth was going for his 6th win in the 200-lap 31st annual Miller Lite
Nationals at Slinger Super Speedway, but a power steering problem sidelined him
early in the race. Kenseth started 5th at the quarter-mile, high-banked oval and
worked his way to the point by lap 17. What was though a good omen quickly
turned bad, however, when a fireball came from under the hood of the Blain's
Farm & Fleet #17. A quick trip to the to the pits revealed the issue and Kenseth
returned to the track, where he was quickly lapped. Ross Kenseth started around
21st position, but his car was better than his qualifying effort as rain had
begun falling as Ross took the track. Ross was able to weave his way through
traffic at the fast, tight oval and finish 3rd. Kyle Busch led the most laps,
but had problems on the last restart when a shower of sparks came from beneath
his #51. With Busch and Matt Kenseth sidelined, Lowell Bennett and Denis Prunty
battled for the lead on the restart with Bennett taking the advantage and the
checkered flag. Same

Kenseth 30th at Sonoma after nasty last-lap wreck Matt
Kenseth had a frustrating day at Sonoma, starting in the back and then earning a
late-race pit road speeding penalty while running 12th. Kenseth was on his way
to a top-20 finish when something happened to the #17 on the last lap, sending
him flying across the track backwards into the tire barrier. Kenseth finished
30th and drops to 7th in the points standings.
